RnB FEST
VISION/ROCKLAND MUSIsC SINGER/SONGWRITER CONTEST GUIDELINES

1. Registration open to current and former residents of Clarence-Rockland who are
   amateur..unsigned..singers/songwriters
2. BOTH SONGS PERFORMER MUST BE THE CONTESTANT’S ORIGINAL WORK (
   unpublished/non distributed ) – no covers, no co-writers
3. Contestants have all rights to all songs entered and the rights to such songs are NOT
   sold or contractually assigned to any other entity
4. Pre-programmed music is not permitted
5. Contestants will either accompany themselves or have One instrumentalist ( non-vocal )
   accompanist
6. Contestants must provide their own instrument. A professional sound system ( with mics )
   will be provided
7. Contestants agree to being photographed and photos used in RnB Fest promotions
8. Songs performed will be judged on …1) The Song’s Composition 1) Quality of the song’s
   Melody 2) Vocal Delivery and Musical Merit.. 3) Composition and Setting of the Lyrics to
   the music . 4 ) Audience appeal 5) Overall performance
9. REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS EXTENDED TO NOV. 1 /09. A signed OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM must be
   submitted on-line OR be printed and directed to Clarence-Rockland City Hall by 3 pm, on
   this date.
10. All contestants are to report to the Event Manager at the OPTIMISTE PERFORMANCE
    HALL at 1:00 pm, on Sunday Nov. 8/09
11. A draw will be held to determine the order of appearances
    
12. Selected compositions should have a total length of approx. 3 minutes
    
13. A SINGER/SONGWRITERS Workshop at Rockland Music is being planned. Date and
    time to be announced..
    
14. There are 4 categories from which registrants will choose one.
    
    
    1. French – 18 years old and under
       
    2. French - 19 years old and older
       
    3. English – 18 years old and under
       
    4. English – 19 years old and older
15. One winner will be declared in each category as well as one over-all winner from any
    category
    
16. The winner in each category will receive an award.
    
17. The over-all winner will receive STUDIO RECORDING TIME, a Membership in the
    Canadian Songwriters Association and a CSA t-shirt. ( prize details will be TBA on
    www.rnbfest.ca by Oct. 16/09 )
    
18. A panel of 5 judges will be appointed by the RnB FEST – Community Organizing Team
    and the Judges decisions are final
    
19. Contestants will perform two selections of original material the 2nd of which will
    be the song to be judged.
    
20. Winners in each category and the over-all winner agree to perform 2 selections at the
    RnB FEST Wrap Up Event at Boston Pizza on Sunday Nov. 8/09 beginning at 8:00pm
21. 21. A singed Declaration or originality of songs entered must be signed and submitted by all
    Contestants
    
22. The RnB FEST Community Organizing Team reserves the right to make any necessary
    changes to the above Guidelines should circumstances so dictate. All contestants would
    be notified before the Contest of any such changes.
