The competition is open to local youth ( under the age of 21 ) Clarence-Rockland area , unsigned /
amateur bands
Bands must have at least 3 members
Participants can be a member of ONE ONLY competing band
At least 50 % of the band members must reside in the Clarence-Rockland area
All music is to be performed LIVE ( no accompanying pre-recorded music )
BAND A RAMA will supply Sound and Light Systems
Bands are required to supply their own instruments
Participants must dress appropriately to perform for a family audience. No profane, vulgar or offensive
language and violence free and moshing free.
Each competing band will be allotted a 20 min . time slot
ORDER OF PERFORMANCE OF BANDS WILL BE DETERMINED BY A DRAW AT NOON BACKSTAGE
Bands must include at least ONE original song in their set.
Bands must be at the OPTIMISTE PERFORMANCE HALL AT 11 am ..on Sat. Oct. 17/09 to follow the BAND
A RAMA Producers directions and sound check..BAND A RAMA BEGINS AT 2PM..the BAND A RAMA
PRODUCER/TECHNICIAN HAS TOTAL CONTROL OF VOLUME and will consult each band accordingly.
Bands will remain backstage before and during BAND A RAMA other than during their on stage set
BAND A RAMA will not be responsible for any misplaced or stolen property. Bands are responsible for
their own equipment . The backstage area is exclusive to the bands and will be supervised.
ENTRY DEADLINE..BAND A RAMA ENTRY FORMS must be SUBMITTED On Line or to Clarence-Rockland
City Hall , by SAT. SEPT. 19 /09.
No use of pyrotechnics or fog machines. Drugs, alcohol and tobacco products are not permitted onsite.
The winning band agrees to perform a 20 min. ( approx. ) set as the Opening Act for the RICKY PAQUETTE
Youth Concert at the OPTIMISTE PERFORMANCE HALL on Sat. Nov. 7/09, which starts at 2pm. The
winning band must be present at NOON on that day.
JUDGING..a Panel of 5 Judges will score bands on each of these 5 JUDGING CRITERIA…1)
MUSICIANSHIP ( VOLCAL/INSTRUMENTAL SKILL, INTONATION AND FLUIDITY 2) ORGINALITY (
QUALITY ORIGINAL MATERIAL AND QUALITY INTERPRETATION OF COVER TUNES 3) STAGE
PRESENCE ( APPEARANCE, CLOTHES , COSTUMES, ACTIONS ) 4) PROFESSIONALISM – SET-UP,
BREAKDOWN, INTRODUCTIONS, ACKNOWLEDGMENTS 5) ENTERTAINMENT VALUE ( HOW
ENTERTAINING WERE YOU ? ) 6) AUDIENCE RESPONSE ( AUDIENCE APPLAUSE AND ENTHUSIASM )
It is an agreement of Entry that all entering bands and all of its members agree to release BAND A RAMA
organizers, sponsors and the RnB FEST Community Organizing Team and the City of Clarence-Rockland
from any and all claims for damages and liabilities of any nature howsoever caused at this time
Entering bands AGREE AND MUST ADHERE TO THE DIRECTIONS OF THE BAND A RAMA PRODUCER for
volume levels, lighting set-up and all on stage management directions. NO props are allowed.
All bands agree to work co-operatively with all other competing bands and agree to move on and off stage
in a professional manner so as to create a highly organized, audience appealing show.
Bands agree to allow the RnB FEST to use their names and pictures in future RnB FEST promotions.
The RnB FEST reserves the right to make changes ( where necessary ) in the BAND A RAMA GUIDELINES
at any time and the RnB FEST will inform all participants of any such changes previous to the start of the
event.
Failure to adhere to the BAND A RAMA GUIDELINES will result in offending Band being disqualified
Judges decisions are FINAL
